Mr. Greene's Honda CBR1100, aka: Blackbird

Hi, I'm Mr. David Greene, RN, BSN, PHN.  I'm a graduate from Citrus College's VN program (1988), from Mt. San Antonio's 30 unit option RN program (1991), and I hold both a bachelor's degree and a public health nurse certification from the University of Phoenix (2005).  Starting sometime this year, I'll be enrolling in a masters of nursing program with an emphasis on nursing education, which should take just under two years to complete.

I've worked on the med-surg floors, critical care units, emergency room, and psychiatric units for different hospitals in southern California, both on the floor as a nurse and as a nurse manager.  I've also had the good fortune of working as a hospice assessment nurse for a short period of time.

As an instructor, I've been teaching since 2000 as an adjucnt professor of nursing education and I've taught both clinical and theory classes.  I've taught Intro to Health Occ, Nutrition, Sociopsych, Growth and Development, Pharmacology, Emergency Medical Spanish and various clinical rotations in nursing programs.

I have several hobbies that take up my free time.  One favorite is riding my motorcycle in the San Bernardino mountains or along the Californa coast.  Biographies of famous people interest me, and I've read up on the lives of Rudolf Valentino, Frieda Kahlo, Folrence Nightingale, and even the Three Stooges.  I enjoy music and play the bass guitar (not very well, but it's fun!), and I'm also interested in photography, science fictions, and motion pictures.  I'm a techno-freak, in fact, I was an engineer prior to becoming a nurse.  I love just about anything electronic, and I sometimes bring some of my toys to the classroom to use as a teaching aid.  Though I'm not fluent in Spanish, I'm fascinated by the history and language of Hispanic cultures.  I developed and taught an Emergency Medical Spanish course for Citrus Collge, and I've conducted CNA classes for ESL students.  Often I'll dine in Mexican restaurants just to practice speaking Spanish (or make a fool of myself in the attempt!).
